Friday Bowlers Saints VS Pompey Grudge Match 20/12/2024
Better late than never - finally found the photos that the Membership Secretary (Catherine) sent me so have put them in an album. Not much bowling taking place but a lot of eating sausage rolls and cakes and drinking! An enjoyable day was had by all, thanks to John Sherrington for organising.

WINTER WARMER 2024
Above was the sight that greeted us as when we arrived at 12:30 for a 13:00 start. Bob and Neil set to work with the vacuum machine when the rain stopped, whilst the bowlers and visitors chatted and had a drink at the bar. At 13:00 we sat down to a very pleasant lunch and some quick speeches. The rinks were finally cleared at 14:00 and we managed to play 3 rinks of 4's for 10 ends and finished just as the rain started again, a fitting end to an enjoyable and very sociable day

LOCKSWOOD at BEMBRIDGE OCTOBER 2024
In October Sylvia Switzer organised a trip for Club members and guests to Warners Coastal Resort at Bembridge ,Isle of Wight. We had 27 bowlers split into 7 teams and 5 spectators.
In the tournament there were 11 teams from three different clubs. Lockswood, Holloway Hill from Godalming, and Kingsthorpe from Northampton who were last year’s winners.
All went well in the Tuesday and Wednesday preliminaries with 2 Lockswood teams making the semi-finals on Thursday morning. Sue & Peter Coates, Gwen Green and Kay Walsh were against Kingsthorpe with our other team of Martin Wellstead, Linda Warrior, Liam McDonall and Alan Weatherall playing Holloway Hill.
Kingsthorpe established an early lead and went on to win convincingly. On the other rink Martins team had a very close game only losing 8 shots to 7 after the full 11 ends.
That put Kingsthorpe against Holloway Hill in the afternoons final. All through the competition Kingsthorpe have been a strong side, and the final was no exception. Holloway Hill got in some good shots, but they were overwhelmed, and the final end was not played leaving the score at 17 – 3 to Kingsthorpe who were presented with the trophy and £400 of Warners vouchers.
Before the evening meal a short meeting was held to thank Sylvia Switzer for all the work she had put in organising the trip and she was presented with a Thank You card signed by all members and a gift to emphasise the appreciation we had for all her efforts.

The Silver-Surfers among you may notice some images missing on some of the pages.
This is due to the club having to downgrade the WIX package due to an exorbitant price rise. This has resulted in a drastic reduction in our storage - I have reduced the 5000 images in the Trash folder down to 2000 so far, but unfortunately some of them were still in use and should not have been in the trash - I will reinstate them from backup but it will take time - be patient with your poor webmaster! - pat
