THE SMURFS WIN THE 2026 SPRING TRIPLES
Spring Triples Grandstand Finish
In glorious sunny weather the Triples last Monday saw the top two sides play out a winner takes all match on rink 6. Eve Aitken’s Peppa Pig got off to a flyer leading 4-0 after the first three ends but that is as good as it got and Neil Fletcher, Sue Coates and Ian Stevenson went on to a comfortable 17-6 win to take the trophy. A valiant effort by Eve Aitken, Clive Davidson and Vi Oliver.
With third place Fred Kemp’s Crackerjack suffering a heavy loss to a resurgent Trumpton it meant that David Harle’s Clangers claimed the runners-up spot following an exciting win over Telly Tubbies. Trailing 11-12 going into the last end Frank Broughton, Dave McLaughlin and Martin Wellstead held their nerve to score a three and claim a famous victory.
At the bottom Pat Downes’s Postman Pat delivered a first class 16-13 win but sadly it was not enough to move them from the wooden spoon spot.
Once again over the ten weeks the weather has again been very kind and a popular tournament again with over 70 members taking part gave everyone a chance to warm up ready for a good summer of bowling.
Thanks again to the unknown members who quietly set-up the rinks each week and to the campanologists who each week start and finish the matches. Enjoy the summer and keep a look out in August for the Autumn Triples.

Bembridge October 2025:-
“if you’ve got it, then flaunt it”
32 Club members and partners set sail once again for Bembridge IOW on a very wet and windy Monday the 20th, for a week of relaxation and bowling at the Warner's hotel at Bembridge.
Lockswood entered 6 mixed teams of four players, and we played mostly against one other club Rottingdean, with Sandown club filling in and a couple of independent players, this did mean that we had to play some matches against our own club.
We achieved 4 teams in the (quarter or semi) finals but none in the final.
One of our teams of Jean, Trevor, Colleen, and Clive who have a combined age of 356 years yet managed to knock out some youngsters and achieve the quarter finals – very well done.
Another club team comprising two brothers, one committee member and a bowler of the year met some lovely ladies from Rottingdean who showed them how the game should be played. We think our team may have now booked coaching lessons!
Our leisure time was spent playing various card games listening to the entertainment and various quizzes, most people managed to go for short walks along the coast as the weather was quite nice on three days. Colleen and Clive used the swimming pool as the photo attached shows! – and they both thought - “if you’ve got it, then flaunt it”, as they paraded through the lounge area.
All members met on the last evening before dinner to show their appreciation to Sylvia who as always works above and beyond to make everyone's holiday go smoothly! Simon presented her gift and thanked her on everyone’s behalf - Thank you Sylvia once again! -Sue

S&D LADIES - 2025 WAS A GOOD YEAR
The Lockswood Ladies A team were presented with the League 1 Winners Trophy at the S&DWBA Luncheon in Fleming Park on Friday 10/10/2025. Dilys, Janet and Vi were unable to attend unfortunately. Very well done Ladies.

Lockswood 1 team in the S & D 'A' League had a resounding win against County Thursday afternoon. They are the League winners for this year. Congratulations to all Lockswood 1 players!
Lockwood 2 also played their last match of the season and are 4th in the 'B' League. Well done to all Lockwood 2 players. You played really well!
A great end to this year's season.
