3 Woods 7 Ends
Another successful day for the 3 Woods 7 Ends Competition,
held today, 27thMay.
The weather was kind to us remaining dry and mostly sunny.
All games were contested in a good spirit and the day was enjoyed by all those taking part. It was lovely to see those knocked out of the competition and visiting spectators, staying to watch the final and give their support.
The refreshments were very good as always and the hot dogs and donuts went down very well at lunchtime. Many thanks to Gill Grindey, Christine Prince, Sheila McKenzie and Kay Walsh for all their hard work in the kitchen.
It was a great final between John Beaumont and Neil Fletcher. Both players exhibited some excellent bowling and the heads were very close.
Neil Fletcher finally emerged the victor with a score of 7 shots to 5.
Congratulations to both players on reaching the final and for playing great bowls all day!
Many thanks to Harry Bryant who once again organised an excellent event which ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all.

The new cup has been given to Harry and awaits it's presentation at the end of the season, to the winner, who will be the first recipient of the new trophy.
Please Note: - The Ladies v Gents match on Sunday 2nd June has been cancelled due to the closeness of President's Day the following week, and the heavily booked calendar on the subsequent weekends.
If it is decided to hold this event later in the year, members will be notified accordingly.
It is with deep regret and sadness to announce the passing of Joyce Turner on Thursday 16th May after a short illness.

Extra help, urgentlyrequired
Every Tuesday between 08.30 am and 10.00am, just four Club members turn up to make sure our bowling green is maintained.
They vacuum the carpet, clean out the ditches, clear stains from the surface, apply moss killer and wetting agent when required and periodically shampoo the whole surface. Often due to illness, holidays or unavoidable appointments, the four are reduced to three or two.
To push the carpet brush back and forth across the green, is for one person a two mile walk.
Please, please consider giving up just 90 minutes a week to help out at your Club and assist the "Lockswood Four".
For more information, contact Club Captain - Bob Prince

G & F PRESIDENT'S Day
The first of the G & F President's Days was hosted today, Sunday 5th May, at Lockswood. The President Barry Shaw brought teams of Rinks, from Lee- On - Solent, Fareham, Rowner, Bridgemary and Portchester to play against six Rinks Teams from Lockswood. The weather started off a little chilly but the sun came out for a while and it became a very pleasant afternoon, both for weather and company. Lockswood won on all six rinks. Our Top Rink was won by Ross Riddett, Anne Etherton, Ron Collins and Jan Collins but the score was immaterial as the whole afternoon was contested in a friendly and happy atmosphere.
The game was followed by a lovely meal, and many thanks to all the ladies for their hard work and who did a brilliant job in making the afternoon a great success, which was enjoyed by everyone.
On the whole our G&F Teams have made a good start with wins for the Reds, Golds and Silvers.
All Results and League Tables are now available to view on the relevant web pages.

I am pleased to inform you that we raised £108.10 with maybe a little more to come.
I am delighted with the tremendous help I received from you all on the day.
My heartiest thanks to everyone who supported the first event.
