Social Activities
Ladies Night fancy dress
Roger Wellstead and mates, entertaining us at the Annual Dinner Dance
When we are not playing bowls we have an active social life. These social activities play an important part in the life of our club. During the winter we hold weekly Whist Drives on Tuesday evenings and once a month the ladies meet on a Friday evening for fun and games including Beetle and Bingo.
Quiz and Skittle evenings are arranged several times during the winter and are very popular and well attended. Other events such as Chinese Raffles, Left, Right and Centre and the more recently introduced Shuffleboard evenings give us the opportunity to forget our diets and eat fish and chips during the refreshment break. As well as being highly enjoyable, all these events help to raise funds for the club during the winter months. We take our bowling seriously when we are playing matches but we still manage to have fun on the green both in summer and winter. We hold Fun Days and Yardstick competitions usually followed by a Hog Roast or BBQ in the summer. In the winter our annual New Year's Day fancy hat match is followed by mince pies and mulled wine and the Winter Warmer is a great time for other clubs to join us for a Christmas fancy dress match followed by soup and hot dogs in the club house.
