Happy Holidays

Twenty Seven Club Members made their way to Hayling Island for another very enjoyable and successful bowling holiday at Lakeside.

Four teams reached the quarter finals and two of those teams went on to play in the finals. Congratulations to Dave Grindey, Jen and Alistair Ford who won the Triples.

Charlie Hewitt, and Brenda Tiffin made up a rinks team with Dave Todd and Michael Howe (both from other Clubs) and ended as runners up in the competition.

It was a great holiday, with great bowling and great company and I can't wait to do it all again in March.

Lockswood competition rule changes

With immediate effect the following changes have been made to our Club Competition Rules.

Any competitor failing to appear within 30 minutes of the agreed time for a match, or an incomplete team (one player short) will forfeit the game, unless adequate reasons are given to the Competition Secretary within 24 hours.

The Accumulator will now be played over 18 ends, rather than 21.

What have the following  ALL got in common?

junior Vice President

 Vice President

catering manager

ladies' vice captain (non Committee)

These positions are all vacant.

The current Committee is becoming increasingly concerned; as is the case with most Clubs, we  only exist due to a willingness amongst the membership, to go the extra mile and give up a bit of time to keep the Club running smoothly, when that support dries up, so does the Club.

Lockswood has always had and still does, a number of people who put in a tremendous amount of time and effort, to try to ensure that our Club is one of the best. Competitions are run, friendly fixtures are arranged, food is provided, social events are organised, the gardens are looked after, the buildings and green are maintained and the accounts kept in check.

The same individuals cannot be expected to do this, year on year.

Our current membership stands at 186 full members and we are trying to recruit for 4 positions, we shouldn't need to advertise!

Please volunteer, give up a bit of time and keep our Club the best.
