League Reports
At the end of May, The Men's League matches are all well underway.
The Championship:- have played three matches and have two home wins to their credit. This has moved Lockswood to second place in the Division 2 Tables behind Eastleigh Rail who are top and look like they will need some catching! However, Lockswood are due to meet Eastleigh Rail away in their next game, so, good luck boys, don't let them have it all their own way!
The Combination Fours:- have played four matches two of which have been away on grass. Currently they are sitting just below mid -table. Lockswood are due to meet Meon Valley away in their next game, so, enjoy!
The Combination Triples:- have made an excellent start. They have won three of their first four matches and are sitting third, although, the points at this moment are being checked. Lockswood host Hedge End C at home next game so keep up the good work boys!
The Ladies "A" League started on Thursday 27th May
Rinks "A" League:- The ladies' "A" League started the season with a home match against Waterside on Thursday. This was a close match with the visitors taking the points after winning by just one shot overall! Lovely to be back playing competitive bowls. The next fixture is Littleton away.
Rinks "B" League:- This Ladies' League has been reduced this year and is not due to start until 10th June.
Disappointment For Lockswood Ladies.
A first time match on grass for nearly two years for some Lockswood Ladies
On Saturday, two rinks teams from Lockswood played against Meon Valley Ladies in the The Thornbery Competition. After the gale force weather on Friday, the girls were lucky to have a calm, mostly still and dry day.
One of our teams won handsomely on one rink but, unfortunately, our other rink was unable to match them. As this competition goes by an aggregate score to determine the victors, sadly we fell short.
It was good to be back playing competitively and whilst Lockswood got knocked out of the competition, we congratulate Meon Valley Ladies and wish them all the best in the next round.
Thank you for all your efforts ladies and Ann Bryant for coming along as reserve.
Better luck next year!

COVID ROAD MAP STEP 3 :-
EASING OF LOCKDOWN
The Covid Sub Group met on Monday 17th May 2021 to consider permissible relaxations with regard to the Government requirement and the Bowls England (BE) options offered to each individual club for them to decide whether to take up the relaxation option. To do so, the benefit must be judged as outweighing the risk, given each club's individual circumstances.

Great start for the S&D Men's Combination Triples!
A great start was made on Tuesday 4th May by the Men's S&D Combination Triples Team. This was the first Home League Game of the Season for two years!
Lockswood played Southampton Old Green and the final score was Lockswood 60, Old Green 42. Congratulations to the team and good luck for the rest of the Season. Hopefully this will be the start of a great bowling season for us all!
It is with deep regret that I inform you of the passing of a past member of Lockswood Bowling Club.
